This post has been a long time coming but I am so excited to finally share with y’all our kitchen design as well as sources and links throughout our kitchen! We built our dream home over a year ago, and I am finally getting around to sharing it with yall! I thought the kitchen would be the best place to start because it’s the main area of our home and we built it with that in mind! Our kitchen design was quite a labor of love for us and it really took a lot of thought. The kitchen is so important to me and my family. We spend the majority of our time in this area so I knew I wanted to make it perfect for our family. I wanted it to not on only be aesthetically appealing but also functional, versatile, and livable. A space to cook, eat, do homework, drink coffee, and entertain.
Building our own kitchen allowed us to make custom design choices as well as create a space that is perfect for our family. Brett and I wanted to create a space in which our whole family can congregate while enjoying food and family time! It is also the perfect spot in the house to entertain guests. While I love a pretty space, functionality was important too! After all, I am a mama and wife so I needed a space where I can easily cook and feed my family while also keeping things organized. With the help of the design team at Collected Lubbock, I not only created the most beautiful and welcoming space in our home, but also space that fits all of our kitchen needs! Below, I laid out all of our design details with sources and links.
Layout
The layout of our kitchen was super important to us! We wanted it to be a place to entertain but also cook and feed our family, we created 2 separate islands. One island is designed to cook and prepare foods while the other is a separate seating area. I always get questions about our butcher block countertop. I am so happy we added this element. It makes cooking and preparing food easy and seamless. I also get tons of questions about our counter stools. I linked them HERE!
Cabinets + Hardware
The cabinets were done by B&S Woodworking and TLB & Sons, both in Lubbock. The cabinets and trim are painted Sherwin Williams Extra White and the walls are painted Sherwin Williams Pure White.
The pulls are linked below!
Lighting
For lighting, we chose these large 22″ pendant lights from Hudson Valley Lighting. I love the mix of metal and fabric! The lighting over the open shelves is linked HERE.
Backsplash + Counter Tops
The countertops are through Onyx Stone here in Lubbock. I am working on finding the name of the stone and I will be updating here once I get that info!
Sadly, our kitchen backsplash company has gone out of business! But Coronado Stone products through ACME brick can get you a similar look.

Open Shelving
In designing our kitchen, I definitely knew I wanted some open shelving. I love the look and also how they allow you to add your own decor and even change it for the seasons or holidays. I linked a few items below that we used to style our kitchen shelving.
Dishes: Bowl
Dishes: Plates
Appliances
Our appliances are all from Ferguson. I listed and linked our exact appliance below.
Kitchen Decor
I am so happy with how our dream kitchen turned out. It is by far my favorite place in our home. We just love every detail. If you are doing a kitchen build or remodel, I hope this helped to inspire and give you sources to items you may need in your own home. If there is are any questions please feel free to email or respond in comments.
