As a nursing mama, I get so many requests for nursing friendly tops. After nursing 3 babies(currently nursing my 3rd), I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what works well and what does not. While function is obviously my number one in finding nursing friendly tops, lets not leave out style! In searching for tops to make nursing easier, I still want to look cute and stylish! And gals, you’re in luck because there are a ton to choose from for all occasions!
top / leggings / bag / sneakers / sunglasses
When looking for tops that are nursing friendly and easily accessible, there are certain styles and details that I look for. Wrap tops, buttons that are functional, and side slits are the best! Take it from me, you do not want to be struggling to move your top to nurse with a super fussy baby and you better be able to get that puppy open fast because when the baby is hungry….EVERYONE KNOWS IT! 😉
Wrap Tops
In my experience, wrap tops are the best! They are so easy to maneuver when breastfeeding. I have so many wrap front tops – honestly it’s the best and easiest way to ensure that a top/dress will be easily used for nursing a baby! I literally wear them for almost every occasion. I have some cute casual ones and a few dressier styles to. I got this wrap front sweater right before Brexton was born and I am still wearing it! Remember to make sure that it is a true wrap style and not faux! Be sure to read if it has a button closure or has faux buttons. I always try to tell yall when doing try on stories!
Button Front Tops
Button front tops are just as good as wraps! Sometimes maneuvering a fussy, hungry baby can be a little tricky when unbuttoning your top, but I’m kind of a pro when it comes to this! I mean, I can get it done anywhere in just about 0.5 seconds. Again with buttons, make sure they are real and functional buttons, not the faux ones. I have had this Urban Outfitters button down forever and love it! I just recently got this Amazon button down and it is pretty darn good too! Both are top sellers because they’re so darn handy!
Side Slit Tops
I have seen so many new tunic length tops and sweaters with side slits. I love this style because it is not only super cute, but it is also so easily accessible for a nursing mama! This side slit sweatshirt is perfect for everyday casual wear! Definitely one of my favorites!
Pajamas
Those first few days after birth are perfect for pajama days! I have to make sure that my pajamas are still nursing friendly so I can get him fed in the middle of the night quickly rather than fumbling with my pajamas and wasting sweet sleep. Here are my favorite nursing friendly pajamas, these are well worth the investment!
Nursing Friendly Bra
My favorite nursing friendly bras are these Kindred Bravely Bras. They are super soft, have adjustable straps, clip-down cups, and stretchy fabric. Most importantly it has easy one-handed breastfeeding access. They are definitely a must have for any breast feeding mama!
