How to Host a Camp-Out Movie Night

It’s summer time and the living is easy, right?

Right! We’ve been letting the girls stay up too late to enjoy the evenings with us! They’ve had entirely too much pizza, popcorn and popsicles all while having too much fun! This past weekend, we traveled to see my family so the girls got to play with cousins and stay up WAY, WAY too late.

To celebrate school being out, we decided to have a little movie camp out night on the patio with the kids.  We ordered some pizza and picked out one of our favorite movies, The Good Dinosaur, to show on the patio TV in a tent with pillows and blankets! The kids loved getting to eat on the floor and watch a movie with their pizza, and the adults loved it too (I especially loved not having to cook). 

 

 

Want to create a family camp out for your kids?  It’s simple!

Here are some quick tips on how to throw together a camp out movie night for your family:

1. Invite Friends/Family – Call, text or send invites to your family and friends to get together for a movie night! Set the time where the sun is going down, kids are comfortable in their pajamas and ready for bed after they eat and watch their movie!
2. Choose a Place – We chose the patio for this movie night! My parents’ patio has a TV installed, so it was a perfect place for hosting our outdoor camp out.  If you don’t have a TV installed outside, finding a protector would be ideal.  It would also be bigger so more people could see the movie! If neither of these options are available, you could set up a camp out in your living area or any place that has a TV! You could even stream the movie onto a tablet or phone like the LG K7 phone. It is $89.88 which is a new available phone option at Walmart. If you purchase the LG K7, you will need to purchase the Nano Starter Kit which is on rollback for $19.88 (from $25).  You will be billed later from Family Mobile, month to month for service. Start service on ANY plan today for $19.88!
3. Pick a Great Movie – We chose The Good Dinosaur to show the kids.  With our Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan or , we get a free movie on VUDU every month which makes it so easy to stream and connect to any TV in the house or even on-the-go!  Just redeem the code ($7 value) and enjoy the show!
4. Order Some Pizza – We love ordering in, and pizza is the easiest thing to order! Who doesn’t love a good hand-tossed pepperoni with some ranch on the side? My kids ALWAYS eat all of their pizza, so it’s a great choice when feeding kiddos.
5. Set Up a Tent – We used this tent that we already had! Or you could even use an actual tent.  Another great idea is to use inflatable swimming pools, rafts or air mattresses to lay on! If you don’t have any of these things, a simple blanket and pillow pallet will do!
6. Enjoy! – Let the kids relax (and adults, t00) by enjoying the movie and each other. I think the adults enjoyed it just as much as the kids did! 

But I will say…beware for little baby popcorn thieves.  She was INTO IT ALLLLLL.
