My due date was Jan 19 2015. I went in to the hospital the morning of jan 18 with contractions but still not dilated further than a 2 and so I was sent home on morphine around 2pm. I got home around 4 and went
To sleep. I woke at 9pm because the morphine had worn off and I began feeling contractions again. My husband and I went to my in laws for the night just in case. I woke every 10 min, in the most pain I’ve ever been in, all night long. Finally at 630am I was getting contractions every 5 min to the point I was yelling and crying. I woke my husband up around 730 and said its time. He was in denial because we had been to the hospital 3 times before and was sent home. I couldn’t take it. I could barely walk. We got to the hospital at 830am and they checked me and sure enough I was dilated to 5cm. I was in active labor! I got to my room and immediately got an epidural I was in too much pain. As soon as I got the epi I did not feel one contraction the entire time until it came time to push. I dilated fully at 645 that evening. But my cervix was not fully gone. Logan was also turned the wrong way, face up. So the nurse gave me a peanut
Ball to try and move him downward and turned the right way. Every contraction I felt the strong urge to push! It hurt soooo bad! He was coming and the nurses kept saying not to push but I couldn’t stop it. After 5 min my cervix was gone and they took the peanut ball out and the whole team came in and it was time to really push. I pushed from 7-755. The nurses kept yelling at me because I kept saying “I can’t.” Because I was blacking out. But I kept pushing and he made his sweet arrival at 7:55pm. Weighing 9 pounds and 21 inches long! But he was breathing very rapid and uneven. His white blood cell count was high and his platelets were low… He spent 5 days in the nicu. I was heartbroken. I hated leaving my boy but I knew he was where he needed to be, on an IV, oxygen, and monitors. He recovered well and now he’s 6 weeks old❤️
