When planning for what to buy for your baby, it can be incredibly overwhelming! I remember being a first time mom-to-be and asking all of my friends that were moms already what I really needed and what I wasn’t even going to use. Of course, it’s mostly dependent on the infant and their likes/dislikes, but I’ve put together a list of 10 must have items that you will need to add to your registry.
I’d like to think of myself as a seasoned veteran mom of two, but really, I’m just a mom who winged it and tried all the things. I have two very different children, so what worked with the first didn’t always work with the second. These ten things are foolproof, though, and I’m quite sure that every nursery needs them.
10 Registry Must Haves for Your Registry
-
- Breast Pump – You will actually not need to add this to your registry because most insurances cover them through websites like Aeroflow. The Affordable Care Act requires insurance policies to provide breastfeeding support and supplies including a breast pump, however; if your insurance does not cover the cost of the pump Aeroflow will offer the lowest possible price for you.I used Aeroflow’s simple form online to apply for my Spectra S1 and absolutely loved it as it was sent to me right before my due date. Now that it’s a couple of years later, I am reading that the Motif is having great reviews and is pocket-sized so that’s a major plus. Another major plus is that you won’t need to purchase or add to your registry since you can get a breast pump through your insurance. The Motif is:
- Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and light enough to go unnoticed in your purse or diaper bag (perfect for mom on the go)
- One of the quietest motors on the marketing
- 3 express modes and 10 customizable express levels
- Rechargeable battery lasts up 2.5 hours
- Travel System – We used the Orbit Baby with both of my children, but since it’s no longer on the market I’ve been doing my research to find the next best thing. We actually loved the Orbit and were so sad that they’ve been taken off of the market. However, I do think that the Nuna is a great travel system and really sleek. Safety is #1 in my book so if we have another, we will go with Nuna or Britax. Britax is our favorite convertible carseat.
- Baby Monitor – These are life-savers. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to sleep without seeing my baby sleep. I can even see her breathing and that’s comforting to me. This particular video monitor by Motorola can add several screens for multiple children and has wifi capabilities for compatibility with your smart phone or tablets.
- High Chair – Boon’s high chair is my favorite because it’s SO easy to clean. That was my number one feat in finding the best high chair, and this one is PERFECTION. We’ve used it for both kiddos now and it’s still in great condition. Great buy!
- Play Yard – This is the very best pack-n-play. It’s actually the only one I know how to put together. It’s easy and fairly affordable if you’re using it regularly. 4moms is one of my favorite baby brands; everything they make is GOLD.
- Swing – We had 2 different swings and both of mine preferred this one. I don’t know what it is about it, but they both loved it. It does take up a bit more space than most, so if you are limited on floor space, I would try this one.
- Swaddling Blankets – This is a great gift to give! Kickee Pants pajamas and swaddling blankets are by far the best quality and softest you will put your baby in. Go ahead and pick your favorite prints and invest in them because they are THE BEST. Promise.
- Backpack Diaper Bag – The backpack part is crucial especially if you have more than one small child. I am loving these because of the functionality as well as how they look. If I were to buy one right now, it would be this one.
- Dyson Air Purifier – This is something that I didn’t think that I needed until I got one, and now I don’t know how we lived without it. It’s definitely more of a luxury item as you don’t need it but it’s life changing once you do have it. My little one’s room is the only room in the house that we have a hard time controlling the temperature, so this is a huge help. Plus, we just know that it’s free of toxins and creates a safe environment for her.
- Dockatot – If you’re on the fence about getting it or adding it to your registry; just do it. It’s worth every penny and I don’t know a baby that hasn’t loved it. I mean, I kind of want one for my adult king size bed.
