One time, when I was a freshman in high school, I chopped my hair off and died it an awful mousey brown color. Like worse than Meredith Grey’s mousey brown. I then vowed: never EVER ever under any circumstance cut your hair and NEVERRRR ever ever die it that brown color. I to this day hold true to that vow. I have long hair, but some days, it really just lacks volume. It’s not SUPER thick, although I have a lot of hair. I have a lot of baby fine, soft hair with lots of strands. I had been taking Hair, Skin and Nails and really liked it…but sometimes I want a little more vah-vah-voom, if ya know what I mean.
So, when I was asked to try out these lovely extensions by Hair Secrets, I accepted without a doubt in mind. Upon talking with this Australian based company, I was a little hesitant on the color and style to get. The ladies at Hair Secrets are seriously amazing. Emailing back and forth, with the help of a few recent pictures, they came to a conclusion of my perfect hair color match and style. There are tons of companies out there claiming they sell 100% remy human hair (remy means that the hair cuticles are all aligned and running in the same direction, thus preventing tangling) however what most people don’t realise is that remy hair does not mean necessarily mean it’s the best quality.Another very important factor to look for when purchasing hair extensions is whether or not the hair is double drawn. Double drawn hair means that extensive manual processing (by hand) has been done to remove all shorter hairs and ensure each strand in the set is the same length. This ensure the thickness remains the same from top to bottom. (eg, a 20″ length set ONLY has 20″ length hair)
Many companies out there will advertise their hair as 20″ length, however they will mix in 18″ and 16″ length hairs to reduce the manufacturing cost significantly. This results in hair extensions that tend to be thin and wispy towards the ends – which doesn’t make sense – because the ends are where you need the thickness the most! There is no point buying 200-250 grams of hair in a set, when the thickness is all in the roots and mid-lengths. The ends are where the thickness is most required for a natural and healthy looking result!
Hair Secrets extensions are made from 100% natural remy human hair which is double drawn so they are the same thickness from root to tip 🙂

Storage Bag
Each purchase also includes a free storage case to help maintain the life of the hair extensions. To use the storage case, unbutton both the top and bottom end of the bag. Place your right hand inside the top of the bag and then roll the entire length of the bag over your right hand/wrist. Grab the top of the extensions (where the clips are) and pull them through while you unravel the bag back to it’s original length. Pull the draw string shut and tie in a bow, then finish by closing the buttons on the top and bottom.

Now, there are some tips to using the hair extensions, and the more I wear them, the more I learn. It works best if you wash the extensions in your hair with them clipped in. Then blow dry and style with them clipped in as well. It helps the real hair to blend with the extensions so you don’t have a definite ‘start of extension and stop of real hair’…blended is definitely the look you’re going for.
When styling my hair, I use this curling iron. I always turn it on the lowest heat to avoid damage to my own hair and the extensions. Upon taking the extensions out, I brush them and put them away neatly into the storage bag provided. I wash them again with my hair while clipped in.
