Welcome to our blog! We fell in love and got married June 25, 2011 and here’s what has happened in our newlywed bliss since then… 🙂
It’s Sunday, January 22, 2012, and we are just 3 days short of marking our 7th month of marriage! I thought I would try out this whole blog thing to keep family and friends updated. That, and I VOWED to hold true to my New Year’s Resolutions this year. #5 Start a blog.
Disclaimer: We are NOT that interesting and really don’t have a whole lot to update on…but maybe we can look back in future years to see how much we’ve done and grown. So…here goes!
7 months of marriage…whew! It’s been a whirlwind of change for me (and Brett, well, sort of!) To date, I’ve moved to a new town, started a new job and sustained 7 months of marital “bliss”….I say this because we really love each other, but people aren’t lying when they say that it’s a learning curve! Brett and I have been together since 2006, which means we have put up with each other (mainly him putting up with my excessive obsessive traits) for 5 years now. So very thankful that we’ve come the great leaps we have and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us this year.
So..my changes:
1. Moving to a new town. Seminole, Texas. Population 6,430 (2010 census). TEENY TINY. I completely went into shock moving here. I DID come from a small town, but not a small town where the closest Target is 80 miles away! OH MY SHOPPING DEPRIVATION!!!!!!!!!!! The upside: everyone has been SO nice and SO welcoming. We are blessed to have met and started hanging out with (well I met…Brett knows everyone here) our best friends-Matt & Bailey. I am especially thankful for sweet Bailey since she might be the only person here that knows what it feels like to move to your husband’s hometown and know no one. Matt and Bailey are expecting their first little bundle of joy, Greleigh, in April. Here is Bailey’s blog. All in all, I am getting acclimated to small town living. It’s a good place to be.
2. I started a new job as a Kindergarten teacher at Seminole ISD. It really is a cool story about how I ended up getting this job. Just goes to show that God always has a plan and all you have to do is trust and seek Him and great things happen. I will share more about that soon!
3. We got MARRIED! I am loving being a wifey, trying out new Pinterest recipes, and learning together what marriage is like. Has it been all rainbows and butterflies like I thought it would be? Absolutely not, but we have loved every minute so far and can’t wait to see what the future holds for us! How exciting is a life that you get to spend with your very best friend every day? I love it!
Well, I do believe that I have written a novel as my very first blog post. Do not worry-I am a rookie and promise to condense in the upcoming posts I make! Happy New Year–may 2012 be the BEST one yet! <3

Glad you started a blog….I'm so far behind I doubt I ever catch up on mine! 🙂 P.S. I get the whole moving to your husband's town thing. It's hard at first, but you make your own way.

I loved your blog, Katie! I know, moving here was such a change, but I know that it CAN be done! Thanks for the encouragement!
