WAAAHHHHH!!!! Each time I do these posts, I want to cry because Laikyn is getting SO BIG! Next month is 6 months! How the heck!? I blinked and she’s a big baby. Not fair!!! But…the good news is: each stage is SO fun! I don’t even realize she’s growing up before my eyes because we just live in the moment. She’s so perfect and wonderful and fabulous. But, you knew that! 😉 You also know I’m incredibly biased and know that every mommy thinks that for their baby! But really, y’all, she’s the cutest ever.
Oh, and I forgot to mention….WE ARE EXCLUSIVELY BREASTFEEDING!!! Yes, that was in shouty all caps because I was screaming it!! We are officially one month just breastfeeding! She is doing so so great nursing that her pediatrician recommended that we try it and she’s doing wonderful. She’s healthy, happy and growing. I can’t believe that I got to throw the formula away and only give her mommy’s milk. I would have never dreamed that we would be able to do this, but GOD IS SO SO GOOD. We’ve claimed that she be healed and our breastfeeding relationship be great, and He has shown favor! I’m so glad I didn’t quit all of those times I wanted to and it got hard. At this rate, I don’t ever want to wean her…lol, I promise I won’t be the mom on Time magazine.
Anyway, here are her 5 month stats! We don’t go to the doctor this month, so I’m not positive on height and the weight is just from checking it at home!
Age :: five months
Length :: 25 inches (75th percentile) ??
Weight :: 14.6 lbs
Milestones :: she’s blowing me away with what all she can do. She is scooting on her belly, pushing up on her arms and holding herself up, sitting by herself, rolling all over the place, turning in circles on her belly and reaching for literally EVERYTHING in sight. Her new favorite thing is to grab our faces…noses and eyes are her favorite! She’s getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. She will be crawling by Christmas I bet!
Sleep :: We moved her to her room in her crib this month. She went through the HORRIBLE 4 month sleep regression and we’re just getting back to normal now. She’s sleeping about 5-7 hour stretches each time, so if we put her down at 9, she’ll be up at 4ish to eat and then right back to sleep until 8 or 9. It’s been pretty heavenly and I sure hope it still keeps going like this. Her naps are so much better to after doing a modified Baby Wise. We do the flexible routine but not a schedule. It seems to be working!
Favorites :: still LOVES bath time, playing on the floor, watching her puppy-brother and laughing at him, making new noises, blowing raspberries, laughing, singing/talking, going for walks, dancing around with mommy
Doesn’t like :: she still hates the Nose Frida! getting dressed has gotten better…and car seat has gotten better too. She really doesn’t like to get tired, so I try to catch her before she gets too fussy and put her to sleep. Oh, and SHE HATES her paci now. She started sucking her thumb. WAHHHHHH!!
Clothes :: She is in mostly 3-6 month clothes…6 month Carters onesies. Size 2 diapers. She’s getting TOO big.
