Soon the days of splash pads and popsicles will be in our distant memories and the days of early bedtimes and books by our bed will begin. Although my girls aren’t in formal school yet, the school year brings a sense of structure for us. We’re back into weekly activities, MOPS group, gymnastics and dance. Daddy is getting busier with his job and we are savoring every last bit of the outside play time before the days start getting shorter and cooler.
One of my favorite things while I was in school was choosing my “first day of school outfit” so I knew it was something I was going to do for my girls. My parents always let me go on a big shopping spree (usually during Texas’ Tax Free Weekend) a couple of weeks before school started and we searched for that perfect first day of school outfit. My mom taught me how to search for fall staples, year-round staples, trendy add-ons and then of course the perfect backpack. I feel like I’m going to have to take my mom with us when we start school (preschool) next year!
Since we will have MOPS and possibly PDO this year, I wanted to grab the girls a few “back to school” outfits that would work as a transition into fall. OshKosh B’Gosh is a go-to when we’re looking for staples that will hold up through playgrounds and skinned knees! I just about died over these outfits that I got the girls, and even found some shoes that they can wear year round! I decided to get the girls each something that they could wear year round and then get a few other pieces that would work so we could create several outfits! Of course, I get them everything matching…
I picked these shoes for Laikyn and these shoes for Lennyn, because we LOVE gold. It’s the best neutral and it goes with everything. Plus, I naturally coordinate them for everything we do so I also chose a few things that complimented each of them and were also interchangeable for their other outfits. I’m pretty obsessed with everything we got! I shopped online, but you may have a OshKosh store near you (if you don’t live in a super small town far away from shopping like me)!
For Laikyn, we got the gold slip-on sneakers and this navy ruffle dress. I also picked out a lightweight dress that coordinates with this tunic for Lennyn. P.S. She’s probably 3 going on 13 with this little attitude! #yikes
For Lennyn, we got the gold high-top sneaks along with the TO DIE FOR denim with suspenders over the plaid shirt (which is also a onesie) so it doesn’t sneak up her little potbelly. I couldn’t resist the pattern mixing of the plaid and flowers. It’s probably my most favorite outfit of hers, ever. Then we did a tunic that matches with her big sister’s dress.
