Today I’m going to talk about one of the hardest mommy jobs that you will have with a baby: choosing a convertible car seat. You spent hours researching your infant carrier and travel system if you were anything like me, and now how is it already time to make the move to the convertible “big girl” car seat? Well, it’s time and I’m going to tell you it’s not easy to choose one! They’re all great, because they all have to uphold to the standards of car seat safety, but we chose the Britax Advocate ClickTight for Lennyn.
My baby is 13 months now which in mom years means basically a toddler…which means, I could cry myself to sleep every night wondering where in the world the time has gone?! I miss my sweet baby newborn, and that time went all too quickly. I do love the new stages that come with each age; the new giggles, the wonderment of learning new things and the joy that she brings to our lives daily.
My second born is a bit different than my first. With my first, she was every bit of the word high maintenance. When she wanted to eat, it was more like I wanted to eat 20 minutes ago and I’m going to scream my head off until I do so. When it was time to be in the car, she screamed the whole time. In fact, we started playing videos for her when she was the ripe old age of 4 months old. Yep, you read that right. We tried EVERYTHING under the sun to keep her in her car seat and keep from screaming the whole way. Maybe she got car sick? I don’t know. But it was TERRIBLE.
This baby, however, is completely happy wherever she is. She still meets the weight and height requirements for being in an infant seat, but I thought it might be time to switch her and give her a little more room. We made this transition a couple of weeks ago when she was 13 months. We started by making sure that she met the requirements of this convertible carseat, still rear-facing. I have a Chevy Tahoe, so we have more than enough room to put this car seat rear-facing…but I feel like it would also fit in a smaller car. I love that it reclines and has so many options to fit the needs of every baby.
Knowing that my baby is safe by just using the car’s seat belt gives such a peace of mind. Sometimes, even as parents, we worry about not having the car seat installed correctly or worry something will go wrong. This is BY FAR the easiest car seat I have EVER installed (and we’ve had LOTS).
