Since becoming a mom, I’ve gained a new appreciation for my mom. You see, it’s not about the day that makes you feel special. You just feel special being a mom everyday. It’s like every day is mother’s day with my girls and I certainly hope my mom feels that I make her feel special every day!

I feel so blessed to be a mom, to have two healthy and beautiful girls here on earth and an angel baby that was made perfect and whole in Heaven. I am thankful for a loving family to go through this life together. Mother’s Day is not about the gifts, it’s not about the amount of hugs and I Love Yous I get on that day; it’s about the joy in the every day. It’s not about the dishes or not having to do the laundry. It’s not about the flowers that get planted and the cards that are written.
It’s about joy.
Mother’s Day is the joy you feel when you see your baby smile or take that first step. It is joy that comes from listening her prayers to God at night for the kitties and her sister’s bumped head that needs healing. It’s the joy that comes from within…the joy of the Lord through being a mom. I now know God’s love for us through being a mom. I feel His love through loving my kids. It’s just a special thing.
I know that you all have experienced a mother’s love in some way whether it was from your mom or for your child. A mother’s love is not defined or described, but to sum it up in one word for me it’s JOY.
For all of you that aren’t moms (yet): love on your mamas because they love you. They birthed you. They nurtured you and helped you grow into the person you are today. They love you more than you’ll ever know. I love my mama more than she’ll ever know, and for me to think about her loving me even more than that (because, a mother’s love) is unfathomable!
For those of you who are moms: take time to enjoy your kiddos not just today, but every day. See the little things; soak them in. Take in the innocence and the laughter. Feel the love and the warmth that comes from their hugs. Savor every second, because in a blink they’ll be on to the next stage; whatever that may be.
For this of you who have lost: though you may be grieving or have grieved the loss of a baby or are longing for one of your own; you are not alone. You are brave. You are strong and you are worthy of every desire of your heart. You may be waiting for those two pink lines to finally show up or longing for the call from the adoption agency, and I want you to know that you are every bit of a mother as every mother. You should be celebrated and you should know that God has his hand on you today. He loves you 100x times more and holds your heart in the palm of his hands. I encourage you to find happiness in knowing that you are worthy, you are whole and you deserve motherhood.
Being a mom isn’t always the easiest thing in life. It’s not always rainbows and sunshine. It’s messy and it’s filled with worry and heartache. No one said it was easy, but it’s incredibly worth it. It has been the biggest blessing of my life – all three of the babies that God intended for me have blessed me in more ways than I can count. I am honored that He trusted me to raise my two and thankful that my baby in heaven is perfect and whole. I honestly feel like God created me to be a mom, and I feel like my babies were destined to be mine. I’m so thankful for that, and for my little family…because every day is my mother’s day.
