Being a busy mom of two toddlers, I don’t find much valuable workout time. I don’t have access to a gym with childcare, and by the time my husband gets home from work it’s time for dinner, baths and family time, so I have to fit in whatever working out I am going to do during the day with my kids. I have found that rather than “working out” I just do some exercising on-the-go and wanted to give you few of my essentials to make that happen!
Before having kids, I was an avid runner and didn’t miss a Pilates class. When I moved to my small town, we didn’t have those classes so I learned to do many of the exercises on my own. I would just do a few of the reps while I was watching TV or ending a day teaching Kindergarten. I also fell in love with Blogilates (which is still my favorite) on YouTube.
Now, I am lucky to fit in a 15 minute yoga session on my own, but sometimes I get it done! If I can’t fit that in between momming, blogging and having 10 minutes of rest to myself (with the occasional Oreo) then I just do squats, crunches and chase them around while we’re playing! We often have dance parties and I just do squats as I’m walking to the bathroom or holding one of them to add some weight!
Some things that I keep on hand to be able to exercise while on-the-go are:
- Yoga mat – We are always outside and if I have a yoga mat, I am more likely to drop down and give ’em 20.
- Deodorant – If you know me, you know I usually forget to put on deodorant before I leave the house. I have it in my car, diaper bag and purse, because it never fails that I forget! - Music – I also keep my music on my phone! I usually don’t carry around headphones, because #momlife and I can never keep them to myself…so I just let them listen to it too! It’s always kid-friendly- no worries! 😉 I plan to share my current favorite playlist soon!
- Water Bottle – My MIL recently gave me this one where I can infuse fruit into the water and I’m loving it!
