I never knew I wanted two girls. I never knew I even wanted two girls 2 years apart in age. I grew up with a sister and a brother that are 8 and 9 years older than I am, so I never knew what it was like to have someone so close in age. I lived with my parents well after they grew up and went on with adulthood, so in one aspect it was like being an only child. I knew that I loved having siblings, but I wanted to experience the closeness of siblings close in age.
I didn’t dream that they would only be 2 years (almost to the day) apart, but I am so glad that God dreamed it for me. With the closeness comes challenges for a mother, but the girls will get to be best friends, sisters and siblings. I remember thinking that when I found out Lennyn was a girl that Laikyn would be getting a built-in best friend. Of course they already have little nit-picky fights and drive-by pinching, but I know they will be the closest of sisters as they grow up.
That alone makes my momma-heart so happy.
My sister and I are super close as adults, but there were times growing up that we were just in different stages of life which made it more difficult to be close. We were 1000 miles apart at one time, myself in high school and then college and she was having babies and being a wife. We are now closer in distance and I get to watch her be an aunt to my girls and watch cousins play together. It’s the best!
Family is a special thing. To watch your babies be friends with their family is such a blessing. We are such a close-knit family, and it’s so rewarding to see those dreams come to life within our kids.
Seeing sisters play and love each other is one of the biggest blessings in my life. My whole life, all I ever wanted to be is a wife and mommy, and raising these two girls is more rewarding than they will ever know. Sisters or brothers or siblings or even a baby with their puppy brother…
…our mommy hearts swell, tears fill our eyes, love takes over our lives and we just know that we were made to do this.
