My Invisalign Journey with St. Clair and Massey Orthodontics

I am so excited to finally share with y’all my Invisalign experience and my journey to a perfect smile! It was over a year ago that I finally decided it was time to do Invisalign. I had braces as a teenager, but once my wisdom teeth came in, it moved my teeth a bit and they needed to be fixed. I also had an overbite which was giving me terrible headaches. I went to St. Clair & Massey Ortho in Lubbock. They also have 2 offices in Lubbock and one in Hobbs. I was a little nervous at first but once I got to the office and met the staff, I immediately felt comfortable. They are AMAZING and some of the most precious people ever! Dr. Massey and his team are so warm and welcoming and I knew I was in good hands and so excited to start my Invisalign journey.

Initial Consultation + Treatment Plan

The initial consultation consists of x-rays and an exam. They take pictures of different angles of your teeth and mouth so that they can develop a treatment plan specifically for your teeth. They also use these images and measurements to submit to Invisalign for your custom aligners. Dr. Massey and his team decided that I needed 22 aligners over a 14 month time period during this initial visit!

When I started last year, I did the in person consultation, but St. Clair & Massey have made is so much easier with virtual appointments! If you choose to do a virtual appointment, there are 5 simple steps which include a submission of your own photos in the SmileSnap portal. A treatment specialist and doctor will then go over your options for treatment as well as payment plans. It’s so easy!!

Progress

I was given the instructions to change out my aligners once per week. PRO TIP: change your aligners at night before bed so your teeth can do the initial shift while you’re snoozing! About every 10-12 weeks, I had appointments to track my progress and change out anything needed! Over the 12 month period, I ended up having 3 sets of aligners. For me, the worst part was having the aligners out. The little attachments they put on some teeth to help them move are uncomfortable when you dont have the aligners in. Other than that, the process went fairly seemlessly!

In the middle of the treatment, they will take progress pictures and get a clear picture of when you are likely to be finished. I was quoted a 14 month plan, however, my teeth responded very well and it ended up being a little over 11 months from start to finish!

Final Results

After my completion of Invisalign, they told me I would need to build up a few teeth to make them all match and I can’t believe how it makes them look so much better! A few weeks later, I went back for a Gingevectomy procedures where they lasered off parts of my upper gums to make my smile symmetrical. That made the biggest difference in my smile, though not everyone will need that done. Overall, my smile is absolutely perfected! My teeth are straight, symmetrical and my smile is wider and more youthful! I am so pleased with the results!

I am so happy with the final results and recommend it to anyone that it even THINKING about doing it!! My oldest daughter is going to have her consult within the next year or so to see if she needs braces yet and we will not use any other orthodontist than St. Clair & Massey! They are AMAZING people and create perfection with a smile!
