Happy fall, yall! Except for here in Texas the weather is pretending that it’s not actually fall! It’s been SO hot lately, like in the high 80s and I’m over here just trying to make my fall clothes work for these high temperatures! If you’re in the same boat as me, I want to share some secrets about how I dress for fall without sweating while it’s still so hot!

The first, and best advice that I can give is dress in layers! Layering in fall is key because the mornings are cool and then by noon you’re sweating and regretting your clothing choices! I have found that if you layer with duster kimonos and light jackets, you’re able to look like fall but still feel like you don’t hate yourself for dressing fall-ish in the high temperatures. This velvet floral duster kimono screams fall and it’s even under $50! It’s gorgeous in person and can be layered over dresses, too!
Another way I love to look like fall without feeling it is with this Topshop felt hat. I’m obsessed with this brand because the price points are great and I know I can always find really great statement pieces as well as basics from them. You can find Topshop at Nordstrom, but just a rule of thumb to always size up in their pieces. Topshop Ripped High Waist Skinny Ankle Jeans are some of my favorites because of the high waist (perfect for moms) and you can choose your length – perfect for shorties like me! These jeans are the ones I reach for first! I needed a good black pair, and this pair is hands down my favorite! The price is great, too!
I have been mixing brown and black lately and think it’s so fun for fall! I always try to choose browns that have black detailing to kind of pull it together. This bag and these booties seem to go with EVERYTHING! They would be great to add to your Christmas wish list! The booties say that they run small on reviews, but I got my normal size and they’re perfect. I would size up one half size if you’re in between or if your foot is wide.
This cognac reversible tote is hands down the best Christmas gift you could give. It’s a perfect reversible tote so it can be black or brown, it’s under $50 and also comes with a cute little wristlet.
If you can’t get away with wearing distressed jeans, these black Topshop jeans which are the same ones with no distressing and also are available in petite sizes. I REALLY love these “mom jeans” and have them arriving at my doorstep from Nordstrom today! Nordstrom is the BEST and easiest for fast shipping, which is so important during these holiday months!
