This has been one of my most requested posts of all time, so I’m going to try my hardest to not let y’all down! We take our annual family photos around this time each fall, and I want this to be a helpful resource for styling your whole family for fall photos!
Christmas Card season is just around the corner and we’re all trying to get in those last mini-sessions with our favorite photographers to have the photos ready! We shot with Lissa Anglin this year (you might remember her from our engagement and wedding) and she of course did not disappoint! Finding your photographer is probably the first step in ensuring your family photos are a success!
Second, is make sure everyone shows up and is happy. Mostly the kids, but let’s be honest…the husband is likely the biggest grinch of all during family photos! Or mine is, anyway! I try to bribe with treats to get a few smiles out of them even if they act like they don’t want to!
And of course the question everyone has in their head when booking family photos is: what in the world will everyone wear? We went a little dressier than normal this year because I fell in love with this dress and had to plan everyone else around it. I found Lennyn’s little dress at Nordstrom and immediately fell in love. I knew it would coordinate with mine, so we just went from there. I actually couldn’t decide between the black and burgundy version of my dress, so when I found Lennyn’s I knew that I needed to go with jewel tones.
These outfits were ones that actually worked out when I got them in just as I had envisioned them in my head! I LOVE it when that happens! I was actually able to find our whole family’s outfits at Nordstrom which makes it easy for a one-stop-shop to ensure it all comes at the same time and matches. We LOVE Nordstrom for the fact that you know it will be shipped on time and returns are easy if one of the items don’t work!
Kids outfits are especially easy to find at Nordstrom because I know and trust the brands that they carry as well as know that we are always going to be able to return if it doesn’t fit them!
I want to share our outfits for photos this year, but also provide some more inspiration if you don’t want to go quite as dressy as we were! I just got lucky in finding the outfits I wanted, so I want to do the work for you to make sure it’s easier and less stressful for you this time of year (because what mom doesn’t stress about family photos)?!
