How fun are these costumes? I think all of my Girl Mom dreams came true in this moment that Laikyn was Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Lennyn was Marilyn Monroe. This was such a fun campaign to do with Smarties where we are highlighting historical “smarties” to create a fun costume!
Smarties are our go-to candy for on the go! We take them to church, in the car, and let’s be honest my girls probably have a few packages to get us through a solo trip to Target. I may have even bribed them with a few (dozen) to get through this photo shoot! Ha!
When Smarties asked me to create a DIY costume of a historical smartie, my mind immediately went to the two smartest actresses from the past. What a better way to create it than with sisters, too? Need a good sister costume? I’ve got you covered, and it’s SUPER simple!
Here’s how to do it!

Step by Step Process
This was one of the most simple costumes we’ve ever attempted! It was as simple as just getting the pieces and putting them on her. She did complain that the gloves were too big, but other than that it’s a very comfortable outfit!
First, I put the dress on her. The best part is that it is all one piece so she wasn’t fussing with the skirt! I wrapped the feather boa around her waist like a belt and tied it in the back. She got to put on her necklace and LOVED it! I layered two old costume necklaces that I already had! She was able to put her gloves on herself, but was mad that they were a little too big (we got the smallest size).
Laikyn is naturally blonde, so we just added a little Drybar Dry Shampoo in Brunette to temporarily tent her hair to a dark brown. She LOVED it, but I was so happy to wash her hair out! I like my little blondie! We twisted it up into a bun from a pony tail and topped it off with the tiara! The sunglasses were way too big for her even though they said ages 3-5. She had a hard time keeping them on, but they were so cute! The shoes came with the embellishment!
This costume came together perfectly with little to no work! The Tiffany’s bag came from my husband, 7 years ago…when he proposed to me! So that was so special to be able to share with Laikyn for this costume!
For her little sidekick, Marilyn Monroe; we put Lennyn in a white onesie and white tulle skirt. She has naturally curly hair, so I teased it a bit and added some Drybar Dry Shampoo (regular color) to add some texture. She used shoes she already had from a wedding and begged for some lipstick! I used red lipstick that I already had and a dot of eyeliner in the color brown for her freckle on her left cheek!
Audrey and Marilyn were two peas in a pod, both such SMARTIES in their costumes. We had a ball dressing up and now we’re settling in and letting the big Smartie watch the first part of Breakfast at Tiffany’s!
