I love a good trip, but packing for that trip can be a nightmare, right? I usually wait until the last minute and pack it all in a hurry to make my flight the next morning! That is just way too stressful, and as much as I try to plan before, it doesn’t always work out as planned! I am planning for a trip this weekend, and actually wanted to take the time to show you how I pack my jewelry and things that matter, safely! {This is my favorite bag for packing my jewelry while traveling}

I plan out my outfits down to my accessories like shoes and jewelry to try to make as much room in my suitcase as possible. Packing jewelry, though, can sometimes be a nightmare. I worry about my nice, expensive jewelry being damaged, lost or stolen so here are some tips and precautions that I take to make sure it’s always safe!
- Plan + Make a List – It’s important to know what jewelry you take with you on your trip. In case you get to your destination and it isn’t all there, you have a physical list of the things you are missing. It would even be helpful to take photos of the jewelry you take with you.
- Pack Smart – Put your jewelry into a safe place that will keep it from breaking, tangling and moving all over your bag. Ziploc bags might not be the safest, so invest in something that will keep yours in place. I like to use the bags that my jewelry came in, stacked into a travel-safe bag.
- Carry On – Always take a carry on that safely packs away your jewels, laptop and any essential that you couldn’t live without (prescription meds included). I like to keep my most treasured items with me while flying, so that I know where they are!
- Use a Safe – Once you get to your destination, use the safe provided in your hotel room. It’s important to assume the worst that it can go missing or get lost, so don’t wear an expensive or irreplaceable piece when you could possible lose it! The ocean is not a place to wear your wedding ring! Lock it up!
- Insure – No matter how careful we are with our jewelry when traveling, accidents happen. That’s why there’s insurance. Make sure you have insurance on your valuables before you leave your home. It’s just smart.
Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company insures jewelry and has been for over 100 years. They offer repair and replacement coverage that includes travel protection worldwide for your valuables. The coverage includes theft, loss, damage and unexplained loss. No matter how careful we are with our jewelry when traveling, accidents happen. That’s why there’s jewelry insurance, and I’m so thankful for that! I am going to make sure I have mine insured and covered in case anything unforeseeable happens!
You always think “that will never happen to me” but you never know. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, so get your Jewelers Mutual insurance and have safe jewelry and peace of mind.
